The awkward questions

Ask them now.

+We already pay for something. Why change?

Usually you do not — you pay for two things and glue them with a spreadsheet. The question worth asking is how many times one job gets typed in before it is invoiced. If the answer is more than once, that gap is where your margin goes.

+How long until we are actually running on it?

Four weeks, and nobody downs tools. Your catalog and rates are the real work; everything else is quick. New jobs run through LVOperator while the ones already in flight finish where they are.

+My techs will not use it.

They will use the parts that save them a phone call. Their screen shows the running clock, the gate code and the number to ring — and it works in a basement with no signal. If it needs a manual, that is a fault on our side.

+We bill some jobs on draws and some on AIA applications. Does it handle both?

Yes, per project — time and materials, a draw schedule, or a full AIA G702/G703 application with retainage, chosen when the proposal is approved and changed later if the job's needs change.

+What happens to a change order that comes up mid-job?

It's raised against the approved proposal and numbered off it, so PROP-1042-2 reads as exactly what it is. Signed before the work starts, it bills the same way the original contract does.

+What happens to our data if we leave?

You export it. Jobs, customers, hours, invoices and documents, in formats you can actually open. Software that holds your history hostage is not confident in itself.

Still not sure

Thirty minutes, your jobs, an honest answer.

Bring one real quote — ideally one that went sideways. We price it live against your catalog, take it through to a signed proposal and out to a dispatched job, and tell you if it is a bad fit.
